The term prosocial behavior describes acts that demonstrate a sense of empathy, caring, and ethics, including sharing, cooperating, helping others, generosity, praising, complying, telling the truth, defending others, supporting others with warmth and affection, nurturing and guiding, and even the altruistic act of risking one's life to warn or aid another.

Pro Social Behavior Definition

Children and young adults can chose from various social paths as they develop. Some paths are safe, while others can lead to bodily harm, mental anguish or even suicide.

Saying a kind word to a classmate, acknowledging other students' feelings, sharing books and advice, defending a victim of bullying—these are just a few of the prosocial behaviors that can enhance students' social and academic lives at school. Because we know that children do not develop social values in a vacuum, educators, policymakers, and researchers are increasingly emphasizing the importance of the school's role in building students' prosocial skills.

Steering Steps can help bring children onto the right path to travel, a path of Pro Social Behavior!

Steering Steps has researched a variety of materials and information on a range of topics dealing with Pro Social Behavior. We then compiled that information into our Grab n Go Pro Social Behavior Program.

Our program contains 60+ Power Point presentations, 70+ videos, and more than 150 resource and support files to help implement a complete Pro Social Behavior program in your school. Whether the topic is Bullying, Alcohol/Drug Abuse, or Teen Dating Abuse, there is a presentation to use and resource data to reference and hand out.
